Florence Photo Shoot
Driven upon inspiration from the music
of ‘Florence and the Machines’ Mystic Magic has come together with Mike Chivers photography to collaborate a small selection of Masks and
fascinators for an hippy/indie styled photo shoot.
When given the opportunity I just
couldn’t turn it down to create a specially designed mask specifically
for the ginger haired singer (although I knew she wouldn’t be present in
wearing it!)
As always before making any mask or
fascinator I like to do a good amount of research so I can come up with a
good mind image of what would best suit the person whom I’m creating
for.
So, from listening to their music while
doing a vast search for Florence and the Machines on ‘Bing images’, I’ve
hopefully managed to get a pretty good idea of what sort of mask
Florence would like to wear.
Colour wise I can see she wears a lot of
earthy and metallic tones. I’ve chosen to use cream, copper, brown and a
hint of amber for my design (all colours that would compliment a
ginger/auburn hair colour). Learning from my research I’ve incorporated
light and airy flowing textures such as translucent cream ribbon and a
brown rose. The mask itself has been coloured with copper glitter and
decorated with butterflies, a big amber gem and small copper gem
flowers. The mask shape I chose was an elegant wavy Venetian style that
would look great on most women. This would also help bring out that
flowery flowing look that I wanted to achieve with this type of mask
design.
With the end results I’ve created a
natural rustic mask that incorporates a flowery nature theme. Something
that is stunning to look at but yet is so simple and well detailed.
