One Planet - The Sustainable Fashion Creation
Earlier this month we had the fantastic opportunity to design and handcraft a full look outfit to showcase at the One Planet Festival in Norwich's The Forum building.
Set up by the UK's national plastic recycling initiative, Pledge4Plastics, and also endorsed by Marks and Spencer, this rather high profile event took place on Saturday 9th June during the hustle and bustle of a busy sunny day with on end of public visitors stopping by to view one of the 3 catwalk shows repeated throughout the day.
For my winning design I chose to use a fabulous 4 way stretch fabric amazingly repurposed from fishing nets! along with a few minimal added extras to complete my Versace inspired vision with an urban goddess twist.
I really wanted to make the most of the fabric's weight so I hand draped out a high slit skirt in one minimal piece and accompanied it with a stylish fitted crop/sports top with an optional attached floaty cape so the look in all can either be style up for elegance or toned down to mix and match with everyday summer wear.
Even had a custom made Medusa cuff by Serrelynda to accessories and I personally redesigned a pair of black faux leather stilettos with some golden snake detailing on the heels.
As you all should know by now when I do something I always pull all the stops out to do my best in creating a head to toe design.
With an added plus to the day I was super lucky to have a great model friend, Amanda, to come out of retirement to rock my look with a dramatic elegance.
The makeup look got better throughout the day as we had time for tweaks with a touch of gold and an up doo hair style.
A massive thank you to all who came to support me on the day and even those who couldn't make it but still supported me from afar. Thank you to the Pledge4Plastics team and Anglian Fabrics who picked me out to take part in this amazing opportunity, I enjoyed and appreciated ever moment of it!
