Rose Red - The Queen of Hearts
As seen published in issue 8 of Rise magazine and photo streamed by Dark Beauty, our latest 'Queen of Hearts' inspired editorial has cutting edge fantasy down to a T and with a stylish burst of sexy couture fashion too!
Inspired by the magic rose under the glass bell in Disney's story of 'Beauty and the Beast', as an artistic designer/crafter I wanted to create an alternative romantic look that captured a modern day sense of vulnerability and yet invoking an empowering strength of darkened beauty.
Accessorised with a sparkling glitter gold crown encrusted in rich ruby red rhinestones and gold leaf vines entangled within the framework. It is as if the golden rose on top was alive and growing from a spellbinding enchantment.
Makeup and hair had to be tailor designed to coordinate well with the full look. The hair especially needed plenty of controlled structure with lots of pins, curling and hairspray to allow the fitting of this unusually small size of crown.
Having the challenging idea to slightly tilt the crown in some of the images made styling even more trickier for Hairstylist Jeahan but after many hours of fiddly work and chopping up doughnuts!,

I must admit the whole outfit took a very long time to make with having to hand stitch a mix of silk and velvet rose petals onto the leotard base with a few added luxury full sized roses for that extra detail. The side shoulder ruffle was made up of gathered silk with a ruched hand frayed chiffon edging to create volume.
For the fishnet tights and sleeve they were adorned with sparkly golden glass beads to bring the royal tone of the crown into this design.
With just enough time leftover the night before the photo shoot I was able to complete the full look by adding a touch of magic to a pair of red velvet shoes that had clear heels which I managed to encapsulate some gold leaf vines within them.
Doing photography and makeup, multitasker Patrice of ArtLook4U once again set fantastic new standards for herself by doing juicy red lips and maximum volume eyelashes with a warm metallic eyeshadow and light dusting of cheek blusher.
Patrice's editing skills really have managed to help set the right mood for this editorial with enticing warm and dark tones.
